The World War II soldier stands at the base of the Pro Patria ("for country") statue on the south side of the Indiana War Memorial. The bronze casting by sculptor Henry Hering, created in 1929, depicts the spirit of a young American soldier draped in an American flag reaching heavenward. To the right is the roof of the Second Presbyterian Church. |
