Description The donor's grandfather, Emsley Johnson, Sr. is seen looking through a telescope on his farm on 71st Street west of Crooked Creek on the south side of the street. It was known as the Astronomy Place, as he was president of the Indianapolis Astronomy Society. He was also the Marion County Conscription Board chairman and author of the book "Deep Forest". He died in 1950.
