From an album created by Fern (Gardner) Cox of Hanna, Indiana. Based on other photos in the album, the basketball players, probably were the Hanna High School team. Handwritten on the image is: ""The basketball boys. / [back row] Palmer, Metzner, Inman, Gardner, Jessup, Cunningham, Mills / [front row] Zabel, R. Baske, Sacks, Cervenak [?], A. Baske, Grieger." The coach is likely Charles Dunfee Palmer (1902-1983), listed as a public school teacher in the Hanna Township, LaPorte County 1940 U.S. census. [The same coach and several players appear in images ia-0528-c001-0004 and ia-0528-c001-0006.] |
