Description |
Aerial view looking southweast at Harrison Lake, South Harrison Lake, and Tamerix Lake about six miles west of Columbus. Q. G. Noblitt began planning the Harrison Lake Development in 1945, but it took several years before all was complete. The Harrison Lake Country Club opened in 1947 and is still there as of 2021. Noblitt then platted the farmland near the club that would become the home sites around the lake, and the lake was dug. Major rains in January 1949 filled the lake. Harrison Lake appears like 2 lakes, but is called Harrison Lake. The north and south lakes are connected by a canal. Tamerix Lake was developed by Bob Simpson in 1951 just south of Harrison Lake. |
