Description |
View looking northwest, probably from Riley Towers tower 2, at the old Indianapolis Public School No. 2. Also visible is the First English Lutheran Church, American Legion, Central Library, the Ambassador Apartments, and the White Castle on the corner of Walnut Street and Ft. Wayne Avenue. Written on the slide mount "Old School #2 120 E. Market [sic - incorrect address]." The school opened in 1871 and became an IPS storage building in 1957 after it was ruled unsafe for children. It was razed in March and April 1965 to make way for the new administration building. |
