    Handwritten on the back is "Grandfather Dalton, Mezzie Dalton, M-T Kimball (in buggy)." His grandchildren were Mezzie Test Dalton (born 1907) and Mary Test Kimball (born 1911). This might have been taken in Illinois where Mary Test Kimball was born or Indianapolis where Dalton lived at the time.

    Studio portrait of a young woman wearing a hoop skirt. Written on the back is "Mrs. Mezzie Test (?) - N. P. Dalton, Indianapolis." This is Mary R. Test (1849-1925) of Indianapolis who married Nathan Ford Dalton. She was the first cousin of author Lew Wallace.

    Handwritten on the back is "Grandmother Dalton ?" and advertising for L.D. Judkins Art Chambers, Indianapolis. Thought by the lender to be Mary R. (Test) Dalton, 1849-1925. The oval cameo carte de visite and the woman's elaborate hair style with a hairpiece, dates this image to the mid 1870s. Lorenzo D. Judkins studios are listed at both 16 1/2 East Washington Street and 36 1/2 East Washington Street in the 1873 Swartz Indianapolis City Directory...
