Photo of Lindner Ice Cream, located at 6101 E. Washington Street in Irvington (corner of Catherwood). On the right are Mrs. Hannah Lindner, the founder's wife, and son David R. Lindner. The man at the far left is Phil Ervin, and to his left is Charles Bourne. The license plates date this image to 1940. Brothers David and Carl started the company in Dayton, Ohio and moved to Indianapolis in 1929. The company expanded to 36 branches in the Indianapolis area before selling to Roberts Dairy in 1982. The last seven stores closed in 1992. |
