Catalog Number |

Description |
Postmarked June 14, 1912. The Alt Heidelberg was established by Dan Clemons, who in 1909 transformed an old hotel building into a German-themed "stag hotel" with German architectural details such as a stucco facade, diamond-shaped windows, and arched doorways. It was marketed as "the home of Fort Wayne's Bohemia," and featured a bar, restaurant, and a 26-room hotel. It catered to "the male portion of the traveling public who prefer the exclusiveness of the stag hotel." The building is not extant in 2025. |
