Description |
Chauncey T. Thurman (1881-1971) posing in front of interurban railway car #27. Handwritten on the front is "C. T. Thurman - 1920 - Shop Supt." Written on the back: "C. T. Thurman Shop Supt / 1150 West Washington St. / Indpls. Ind. / June - 1920." This was the location of the Indianapolis Traction and Terminal Company. Thurman's occupation in the 1920 and 1930 census was listed as general foreman of the Street Car/Railway Barns. His obituary states that he worked previously for the former Terre Haute, Indianapolis, and Eastern Traction Company. Also written on the back is "710 E. 63 St. / Broad Ripple, Ind." [710 E. 62nd Street is listed as his family residence in the 1920 census]. |
