Description |
Hotel and restaurant located at Kuhn's Landing between Little Barbee Lake and Big Barbee Lake. The New Barbee Hotel opened in the spring of 1923, after the Ormond Hotel on this site since about 1897 was destroyed by fire on August 17, 1921. Owners of the hotel at this time were Clara A. (Eley) Davison and Charles H. Lincoln. Clara and her first husband Arthur W. Davison bought the Ormond Hotel in about 1910. After his death in 1913, Clara continued as proprietress until the hotel burned in 1921. She and Lincoln built the New Barbee Hotel in 1923 and were married in 1927. The building constructed in 1923 still stands as of 2024. |
