Description |
The Pioneer Family statue stood at the intersection of Shelby Street, Virginia Avenue, and Prospect Street from 1924 until 1954. The statue, designed by artist Myra Reynold Richards, was unveiled in November 1924. In the background is the Fountain Square Theatre Building (1111 Prospect Street, completed in 1928). Movies at the Fountain Square Theater are "Her Cardboard Lover" and "Stardust on the Sage," both released in 1942. Also seen are Smith's Beer and Liquor store and Shelby Furniture. |
